THE QURANIC INITIAL “N" (Noon)

Rashad Kalifa tried to establish his evidences, by applying incorrect numbers and calculations and by including or removing new words and letters in Quran, that every element of the Quran is mathematically composed, and nineteen is the common denominator throughout the Quran's mathematical system. However, all his evidences and proves about the mathematical miracle of Quran does not have any mathematical logic or scientific base. The most important thing for his research was to fit the numbers in such a way that he could obtain numbers equal to 19 or could be divided to number 19.

Rashad khalifa started his research by studying the Quranic initials. He struggled to prove that Quranic initials are mathematically composed, and nineteen is the common denominator, and this phenomenon alone suffices proof that the Quran is God's message to the world and he is God's Messenger of the Covenant.

We are trying in this article to investigate the actuality of these claims, and to which extend it fits with the Quranic suras, the verses, the words, and numbers.

This initial is unique; it occurs in one sura, 68, and the name of the letter is spelled out as three letters - Noon Wow Noon - in the original text, and is therefore counted as two N's. The total count of this letter in the N-initialed sura is 133, 19x7.

The fact that "N" is the last Quranic Initial (see Table 1) brings out a number of special observations. For example, the number of verses from the first Quranic Initial (A.L.M. of 2:1) to the last initial (N. of 68:1) is 5263, or 19x277.

The word "God" (Allah) occurs 2641 (19x139) times between the first initial and the last initial. Since the total occurrence of the word "God" is 2698, it follows that its occurrence outside the initials "A.L.M." of 2:1 on one side, and the initial "N" of 68:1 on the other side, is 57, 19x3. Tables 9 to 20 prove that the initial "NuN" must be spelled out to show two N's.

Discussion:

1) This is an obvious alteration and fabrication of Quran, because Nun is mentioned in Quran as N (ن), not as he claims (Noon Wow Noon), and all of the available versions of Quran show clearly this fact. However, if he claims that the present version of Quran is not the same version of Prophet’s Quran, this is another topic to be discussed.

2) If the initial letter is spelled out as it is pronounced, like N is spelled out as three letters - Noon Wow Noon -, then he shall apply this role to all the Quranic initials, e.g. Q is spelled out as (Qaaf), A.L.M is spelled out as (Alef. Laam. Mim)...etc.

3) The efficacy of the mathematical formulas is essentially related to its stable and constant basis, because any kind of alteration in these bases will ultimately change the formulas itself and its results. It is crucial to have invariable basis prior to any kind of mathematical calculation. Therefore, to prove the existence of Quran's mathematical coding, Rashad Khalifa shall accept the fact that Quran is the unaltered, original and complete word of God, there are no different versions, and no injection of words or verses…etc.

However, the strange thing is that he stated in the beginning that this Quran is the unaltered, original and complete word of God (Reference), and then according to this base he established all his formulas and computations, to prove the existence of different kind of writing (Reference) and injected verses (Reference), and this is entirely against the logic and sense.   

4) Even if we accept that the letter (N) is written in Quran as (Nun), the total count of this letter in the N-initialed sura is not 133 as he claims, But 132 as we notice in the following table. The number 132 can not be divided by number 19.

This confirms that all his evidences concerning the mathematical composition in the N-initialed sura 68 and all Quranic initials are erroneous, because rejection of his evidences about the spelling of Noon Wow Noon, means rejection of all his calculation about the Quranic initials as well.
